ISLAND OASIS
Inspired by the sights and sounds of
the Bahamian island Exuma, the Hembergers wanted
a home that was light and bright, but also included
the kinds of unique wood finishes they had admired
on their tropical trip. They wanted a place that was
comfortable and sturdy, too: The couple has three sons,

Immerson is the sensation that overcomes you
as you enter the lobby of this waterfront Marco
Island condominium. Designed as a retreat for
a baby boomer couple with no children and a
classical primary home in Maryland, the owners
wanted this space to be more contemporary and
expressive.
With
a northern residence at the Jersey Shore, designer
Kira Krümm’s clients decided to purchase
a second home at the high-rise condominium The
Trieste in Naples.
When
interior designer Kira Krümm was selected to
design a private residence in La Palma at Bay Colony
she was met with a unique challenge: how to reconcile
the home’s existing Mediterranean architecture
with her client’s desire for a clean, uncluttered
contemporary look.
Located
on the 24th floor of a luxury high-rise building
at the tip of Marco Island, the most remarkable
characteristic of this beautiful condominium
is the total sense of emotional and physical
tranquility that it exudes.
World travelers John and Cathy Ring, who recently moved into their fabulous new home, love to share their treasures collected from visiting many different countries with family and friends.
"There are a lot of interesting features in this home," expresses Kira Krümm. "I used soft, calming colors of vanilla and dusty teal to set the tone for a romantic feet."
Because the home already had travertine floors and textured arches in the entry area, it was important to cool the Mediterranean influence and establish the new themes at once. "The kitchen has a gold-toned bamboo floor," Krümm says, "so we worked to integrate its light color with the darker shades of the South American woods we were using."
